Our Story

Despite finding success as the leader of a non-profit, after having my first child, I realized something was missing.  Though I loved helping people, having to wear the hat of fundraiser, grant writer, HR, and attorney was too much.  I felt the quality of work I provided my clients was suffering. I felt that I could not connect to clients on the level they required or devote the proper time and effort to their cases.  I found completing cases took longer and longer and the work within the organization became less consistent.

I made the difficult decision to leave the work and clients I loved to start my own business. I wanted a business that focused on the relationships and connections with the clients.  A business that provided open and honest communication and offered consistent, timely results to our clients.  I wanted to like my work again, and grow relationships with the people I worked for.

You see, I entered the field of law because I have always had a heart for helping others.  It’s something ingrained in me as a child- my father, grandfather, and several other family members served the State of Oklahoma as firefighters and police officers and that need to help trickled down the family lines to me.

I didn’t feel like I was truly helping my clients where I was.  First, I noticed that clients in the traditional law model are given ranges of expenses that can vary greatly because it is based on hourly billing.  Because of this hourly billing model, our clients wouldn’t reach out when they needed us the most.  You do not want to have to pay your attorneys to update us on your lives, or ask us for referrals and guidance in other areas we do not specialize in.  I knew then that I wanted to be the kind of business that not only provides excellent service in my area of expertise, but also builds connections between our client family and other reputable businesses that you may need. Whether that be a plumber, a realtor, or a tax advisor.

The second realization I had when working in the non-profit world is that many attorneys do not listen to and tailor their client’s documents specifically to their clients' needs, and explain to their clients what needs to be done to meet their goals.  I do not work only in estate planning.  I handle the transfer of assets after death as well.

Unfortunately, that realm of law has exposed me to many situations where the family tried to make a plan, but that plan failed.  In one case, a potential client came in to me with a binder full of documents.  It was the usual line-up of estate planning documents.  The documents were pretty good.  They could have done what the client needed, except for one thing.  The drafter of the documents was an attorney who didn’t regularly practice estate planning.  That attorney either didn’t realize, or just forgot to tell the client, that in order for the Trust to work, the property he owned had to be titled into the trust.

So, despite having spent hours working on a plan, and spending thousands of dollars to prevent his family from having to endure the stress of the Court process, the client’s trust failed.  His Wife sat in front of me, with tears in her eyes, and I had no other choice than to tell her she had to pay thousands more, and wait months, for a probate to be finalized to receive the money she desperately needed to pay her mortgage and feed and clothe her minor children.

The last area that I sought to improve with Solid Serenity Legal Solutions was to provide deeper, stronger, lasting relationships with you, my client family.  That’s what we call you here, family.

I see my position not just as a one-time attorney to help you draft some documents.  You can go to an online document bank for that.  I am here to guide you throughout the changes and milestones in your life.  I am here to help you make the right decisions and complete your plan in the way that makes the most sense to your family.

Many of you come to us for more than one case.  I have several client family members who have used us for probates and estate planning for themselves and referred us to their family members.  There is no greater compliment than knowing that the people you care for appreciate you and trust you enough to help the ones they love.

And the ones you love are our focus.  Becoming a Mom really changed my focus.  It helped me to realize how much of an honor it is to take care of a beautiful, precious little soul.  And that’s what we do here.  Help you take care of your family and your loved ones.  We help you be a better parent, child, sibling, and community member.

So, how can we help you help your loved ones today?
